Gillian Moore was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and as a child was fascinated by Japanese animation like Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z. As she got older, Gillian discovered the vast world of anime and Japanese culture. It didn’t take long before she was creating her own characters and spending most of her free time developing her work. While studying at Missouri State University, she met professor Sharon Harper, who encouraged her to pursue her style. In the spring of 2013, Gillian graduated with her Bachelors of Fine Art. Gillian’s character “Tree Girl” represents her and the difficulties she has in everyday life in dealing with her speech impairment. Art has given Gillian a way to express her feelings instead of bottling them up inside, and also lets people experience her world. We are thrilled to have Gillian painting with us this July!
